Our Story

First, we feel it is best to start at the end, like every great story: why we are adopting. Most people choose adoption because they are having trouble conceiving, but that's not the case for us. We've put off starting a family until the time was right for us, and when we finally sat down to talk about building our family, our first inclination was to do so through adoption. We both feel we have been called to a different path in our lives; God touched both our hearts at different points and showed us that this was our path. Few things have been more certain for us than this choice.

But that's jumping to the end, let's jump back to the beginning, shall we?

So our story isn't like most people's. We didn't meet on a group date in college or at a study group, or even at a frat party. No, we met on the school bus in middle school and let us be frank (as in truthful, not the big guy in the pictures), sparks did not fly right away. Frank teased Melissa incessantly, as most young boys with a crush do, and Melissa was having none of it. He was in love. She was in hate. Fast forward to our first years in high school and through a mutual friend, Melissa's next door neighbor, we started "going steady," as our parents would say. Something clicked and besides a brief week's worth of teenage angst and drama, we've been together, as the story goes, ever since.

After high school, we decided to try the long distance relationship game as Melissa went off to college 150 miles away. It wasn’t without its difficulties, but right before graduation, Frank proposed and plans were made. A year and a half later, we tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony and had a rockin' party to celebrate that included a Star Wars lightsaber duel, MC Hammer first dances, and an all around good time.

Fast forward through almost nine wonderful years of marrige, two apartments, a house, a cat and a dog, and we finally find ourselves up to today! Blessed with each other, and our amazing family and friends, we are (finally) ready to add a little geek to our family. Holy crap, that means we'll be parents! Yes, yes it does, and we can't wait!
